Participatory Training

The Brief:

To work with Link Community Development staff to enable them to deliver more engaging, participatory and practical training conferences for the Global Teachers scheme.

Engaging Just Ideas:

Just Ideas was engaged to deliver this training following a workshop session delivered by Just Ideas on Global Education within one of the training conferences. Participants found the participatory nature of the workshop highly motivating and informative, and this led Link to contract Just Ideas to provide training and support for their staff to enable them to use similar methodology throughout their conferences.

The Outcome:

A one-day session delivered to key staff at Link Community Development, where they tried out tools and techniques, and had the chance to work on planning for the conference to integrate the suggestions. This was followed up by Just Ideas providing a bespoke handbook of participatory activities geared towards their specific context. When a Just Ideas consultant arrived at the next conference to deliver a workshop, the atmosphere was fantastic. Participants were spread around the building involved in producing time-lines, in visualisation planning sessions, in dynamic evaluation sessions, and there was a real buzz of enthusiasm and commitment.

"What can I say! It was such a pleasure to have you at the weekend and your workshop was the top-scoring session! Several said it was the best workshop they had ever been to at a Global Teachers weekend. Honestly it was the best thing all weekend – they loved it. THANK YOU. Some quotes from participants’ feedback: Excellent; facilitator confidently used different methods to get us to explore development education and its delivery; Interactive and informative, Fun; Lively; focused, useful; The best workshop I have attended over all the weekends – focused, practical and directly relevant; Best workshop of all the training; Helen was fantastic."
