Growing up Global
The Brief:
Working with Reading International Solidarity Centre (RISC) to research, trial and develop a resource for nursery age children to find out about global issues through games, stories and play.
Engaging Just Ideas:
Just Ideas was contracted by Reading International Solidarity Centre to carry out consultation, development and writing of this resource pack. Just Ideas worked with RISC staff, parents, children, childminders and teachers in the production of the handbook.
The Outcome:
A highly acclaimed handbook packed with over 70 activities. 12 sections cover: family, garden, food, senses, music and games, story tent, Ghana, South Africa, India, China, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, resource cd with weblinks, and an extensive recommended book list. It demonstrates how global education can be a thread running through learning and teaching right from the start and is a must for anyone working with the under 5’s.
