Facilitation

‘I'm always impressed by someone who knows what a workshop actually means.’
Feedback to Just Ideas from Lorna Scott, Coordinator, Forum 21, Sustainability in West Somerset

Facilitation isn’t easy. It takes careful reading of a group’s energy, power relationships, ability and knowledge as well as a self-aware facilitator to make the most of a workshop setting. Just Ideas has diverse experience of facilitation – it is perhaps the skill most at the heart of what we do. Good facilitation leads to learning and empowerment, poor facilitation can lead to confusion, loss of motivation and a lack of clear outcomes. Our experience in this area outlined below demonstrates the positive results you can expect by engaging Just Ideas:

  • Oxford Road Children’s Centre
  • Contracted by Reading Borough Council to facilitate innovative sessions for children and adults on fair-trade, climate change using interactive games – Forbury Fever
  • Planning and facilitating a 3 day training workshop on advocacy for international partners of the Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers
  • Facilitating resource writing away days for One World Week stakeholders – resulting in the basis of a global education pack
  • Mosaic -working with Black and minority ethnic families in Newbury to foster a new support network
