Collaborate for Commissioning

bassac

The Brief:

To explore the practicality and efficacy of different forms of voluntary sector collaboration, in order to boost engagement with the commissioning process and deliver more effective services to the local community.

Engaging Just Ideas:

Helen Garforth was involved in facilitating Bassac’s Collaborate for Commissioning programme, in phase 1 of the National Programme for Third Sector Commissioning (NPTSC). She worked alongside web developers and other practitioners to create a toolkit of case studies and resources – see collaborate for commissioning website [link: http://www.bassac.org.uk/our-programmes/collaboration/collaborate-for-commissioning] This led to Just Ideas being approached to facilitate six groups of collaborating organisations in phase 2 of the NPTSC, as an action learning approach to exploring different forms of collaboration. Helen and Richard are currently working with groups in Doncaster, Bristol, Plymouth and Southwark, London.

The Outcome:

This project is ongoing; a guide to best practice will be produced. For more information, please visit bassac's page on collaborate for commissioning.

“Being in the room together, discussing common issues has already been a catalyst for thinking about collaborating around the commissioning agenda."

“Having the time to think things through in this facilitated process, really makes a difference."
